About

Stacy Yanagawa (she/her) was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and is a member of the Cherokee Nation. Stacy earned her Master of Education in Counseling with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health through the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and certified Behavioral Health Practitioner. Stacy has been a therapist with the BHWC since its opening in 2021, where she provides individual therapy, group therapy, and assessment services.

Stacy is privileged to walk alongside clients who may be experiencing life’s difficulties, including significant transitions, challenges at work or in relationships, losses/grief, past trauma, substance use concerns, and changes in mood like depression and anxiety. In therapy, she helps clients illuminate their unique values, goals, and what brings a sense of meaning and fulfillment to their daily lives, even in the midst of painful experiences. She endeavors to meet each client with empathy, humanity, authenticity and humor. Stacy is primarily an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) therapist, though she enjoys weaving elements of other approaches in her work to best suit the needs and desires of each client.

Outside of work, Stacy enjoys reading, doing puzzles, watercolor painting, and getting outdoors with her wife and dog.
