ANMC Recognized as 2024 LifeCenter Northwest Achievement Award Winner

Reaching out far and wide to serve our diverse community in Alaska and leading the way in organ procurement. This month, the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) was recognized as a 2024 LifeCenter Northwest Achievement Award Winner for supporting the life-saving work of organ donation! This notable achievement is based entirely on performance, earned by hospitals with a process error rate of 5% or less.
Each year, LifeCenter recognizes top-performing hospitals in Alaska, Montana, North Idaho and Washington for their continued dedication to supporting donation and transplantation. ANMC is receiving the following three achievement awards:
- Organ Donation Process Excellence Award
- Earned by hospitals with a process error rate of 5% or less.
- Implementing process changes to eliminate all early extubations has a significant impact on positive donation outcomes. One of the most critical steps in the organ donation process is preserving the donation opportunity by keeping the patient intubated until LifeCenter has completed their evaluation. Realizing and maintaining a low process error rate is incredibly challenging and requires a strong commitment across hospital services and staff.
- ANMC was one of only 30 hospitals to earn this honor across our four-state, 230+ hospital donation service area.
- Honoring Donor Decisions Award
- Earned by hospitals honoring 100% of registered donation decisions of medically suitable organ donors.
- LifeCenter Northwest fully supports an individual’s right to make their own donation decision and to indicate this choice on a legally recognized gift document. At LifeCenter, we recognize our responsibility to act on the individual’s donation decision, but we cannot do this alone. This award honors our hospital partners that excel in honoring a person’s legally binding decision to be an organ donor in collaboration with LifeCenter Northwest.
- ANMC was one of only 45 hospitals to earn this honor across our four-state, 230+ hospital donation service area.
- Collaborative Family Support Award
- Earned by hospitals with a collaborative request rate of 100%.
- Organ donation can’t happen without the collaboration and teamwork between hospitals and LifeCenter Northwest staff. One of the most important areas for collaboration is when the time comes to assess family readiness for an introduction of or conversation regarding donation. This award honors our hospital partners that excel in the area of planning a collaborative family connection with LifeCenter Northwest.
