ANMC Pediatric Infusion RN, Paula K. Ayojiak, wins DAISY Award

Congratulations to ANMC DAISY Award winner, Paula K. Ayojiak, RN in Inpatient Pediatrics. DAISY Awards are considered from nominations received directly from patients and Ayojiak was nominated by her pediatric patient for the excellent care she provides. This past quarter, Ayojiak received three nominations.
In an effort to further recognize our nurses for their outstanding work, ANMC partners with the DAISY Award, an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day.
Ayojiak’s nominee wrote the following about her: “Paula Ayojiak is very special to me as an infusion patient because of her ongoing compassion and professionalism. Paula is very aware of the pain associated with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and has consistently displayed an understanding and kind nature, which makes my infusion experience more tolerable. There is no question regarding the professionalism of Paula. She always lets us know the date of our next infusion, stays in personal contact with us via text, and has assisted with the coordination of my rheumatologists to have appointments during my infusions. This has helped tremendously in assisting me with my school attendance and school work. Paula is a real asset. If Paula were not working, my infusions would be much less enjoyable because she has a great attitude and positive outlook on my disability. She talks to me as a person and not as a patient. She is very considerate of my mom and assists her in any way she can. As a result of Paula’s efforts, she has affected my life in a very positive way because I am always receiving infusions and I see her a lot. I just wanted to let you know how thankful my mom and I are for Paula.”
Patients, their families and fellow ANMC staff can nominate nurses for DAISY Awards. Nomination forms and collection boxes have been placed throughout the hospital. Subsequent honorees will be selected quarterly and each DAISY Award honoree will be recognized at a public ceremony in her or his unit or department.
