ANMC opened a discharge lounge in the Quyana House last week. The new discharge lounge has been designed to improve efficiency with hospital flow while providing a comfortable place for our patients to relax while waiting for transportation back home. The lounge is available for patients 18 years or older being discharged from ANMC and waiting for a ride or travel papers. Our patient’s escort is also welcome to wait in the lounge with them. The newly remodeled lounge is furnished with a large screen television, small lockers for personal items, a computer station and Internet access, coffee and large windows offer a scenic view. “Discharge lounges have become an integral part of a hospital’s discharge process. While patient experience is our top priority, this is also a benefit our patient flow and assists with inpatient rooms for future admissions,” said Allison Knox, ANMC Vice President of Customer Experience. “We’ve designed this area to be a comfortable, relaxing place for patients to wait upon their discharge and travel back to their home communities.” Hours of operation for the lounge are seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Patients also have the option to enjoy a hot meal while waiting in the lounge.
