ANMC celebrates American Pharmacists Month

ANMC celebrated American Pharmacists Month in October by recognizing our talented pharmacy staff. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are an integral part of the health care team and offer an array of education, prevention and wellness services to help our people improve their health. The month was a time to recognize our more than 100 pharmacy staff for the vital contributions they make to health care through improved medication use and advanced patient care. Special events were held throughout the month to celebrate our hardworking pharmacy teams. “I feel very fortunate to work with such a hardworking and dedicated group of people,” said Gary Givens, Pharmacy Director. “It has been fun to take some time and celebrate our successes.” The ANMC Pharmacy includes both the outpatient and inpatient service lines in the ANMC hospital, the outpatient pharmacies in both the Healthy Communities Building and the Alaska Spine Institute and the outpatient pharmacies at the Anchorage Native Primary Care Center and the Valley Native Primary Care Center. Each day, these combined locations serve about 790 patients! Also as part of the American Pharmacists Month celebrations, ANTHC and Southcentral Foundation pharmacies jointly hosted Saturday walk-in flu shot clinics for ANMC patients age five and older. These clinics made getting a flu vaccination quick and easy for our people. Thank you to our hardworking pharmacists!
