Alaska Native leaders, Tribal partners and community members from across the state joined ANTHC’s Board of Directors and executive staff for the Consortium’s Annual Meeting on Monday at the Dena’ina Civic Center in Anchorage. The Annual Meeting is an exciting event that allows us to discuss our accomplishments and challenges in the last year, while also getting a chance to connect and communicate face to face with our people.

Improving access to health services for our people when and where they need it is the driving force behind our work. This year’s theme was Building Better Health, which was communicated throughout our presentations, as well as in our latest annual report and our six-minute year in review video shown during the event.

The Annual Meeting gave leadership and staff the opportunity to discuss improvements we have made to the Alaska Native Health Campus and the services we provide across the state including: facility improvements at the Alaska Native Medical Center; construction of our new patient housing facility; bringing wellness and prevention efforts closer to home; providing water and sanitation services to more communities; improving the energy efficiency of community infrastructure and more.

We opened the meeting with a performance by the Acilquq Dancers followed by an invocation from ANTHC Vice Chair Lincoln Bean and then an overview of highlights from ANTHC’s work over the past year from Consortium leadership. Later, ANTHC Treasurer Evelyn Beeter introduced Chief Financial Officer Garvin Federenko, who gave a summary of our 2016 financials.

After the presentations, attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and provide comments directly to our Consortium leaders about the work we do and the services we provide across Alaska. We always appreciate the chance to hear feedback directly from our people. Thank you to those for sharing their thoughtful comments and concerns.

If you were unable to attend the annual meeting, our 2016 Annual Report, produced by our Marketing and Communications team, is available online at anthc.org/who-we-are/publications/.
