The Alaska Safety Working Group (ASWG) shares Alaska-specific health care expertise in safety, infection control, facilities and environmental health among professionals in these fields. The group collaborates to share experiences at our organizations in an effort to keep our service areas aware of common health care related concerns and solutions.

Promoting safety in health care for our organizations in Alaska requires unique solutions.  Rural Alaska health care requires ingenuity and resourcefulness when tackling health care circumstances that are commonplace for other health care organizations such as shipping medical gas and medical waste, SDS access, life safety, and day to day occupational hazards.

The group membership is open to any of our Tribal health partners who are interested. We strive to meet for one hour on one Monday every other month. Meetings will be conducted via teleconference supplemented by web meetings when appropriate for sharing information and presentations.

There is no obligation to participate in every meeting—be as active as you choose or your work will allow. We will distribute an agenda before each meeting so you can decide if the topics are relevant to your work. We encourage everyone to participate by submitting current events that can be discussed by the group.
