Quality care without an appointment

Care for you and yours, when you need it most.

Some things just can’t wait. Your health is one of them. That’s why the Walk-in Clinic at ANMC is available to serve you and your family’s urgent, non-emergent care needs without an appointment.

How does it work? Patients are seen as they come in, on a first-come, first-served basis. However, if you are from outside of Anchorage and need to be seen for same-day care, please give us a call and we will coordinate with our Internal Medicine Same Day Clinic to make you an appointment.

Who can use the Clinic? We serve all ages of Alaska Native and American Indian people. Walk-in Clinic services are also available for all ANTHC staff and their dependents.

What can I expect? The Clinic is staffed with nurse practitioners, certified medical assistants, and medical clerks who are here to help you with your illness or injury that requires immediate care.

New Year’s Day and the Fourth of July

The clinic is open from 10 a.m.–6 p.m. on: 

Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Veterans Day, Family Day (Friday after Thanksgiving), Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve

The clinic is closed: 

  • Thanksgiving 
  • Christmas Day 

Some reasons you may visit the Clinic:

  • Cough and cold symptoms
  • Cuts and minor skin infections
  • Fever
  • Medication refills
  • Muscle strains and sprains
  • Pregnancy tests and contraceptive counseling
  • Sinus and ear pain and infections
  • Sore throats
  • STI testing and treatment
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Vaccinations (flu, COVID-19) and TB testing
  • Other ailments that need immediate, but not emergency care

Flu and Covid-19 Vaccinations

We offer flu vaccinations as they come available each fall, typically by late September or early October until June the following year. You do not need to make an appointment. Simply arrive at the Clinic during our normal hours (9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on weekends).

For Covid-19 vaccinations, we offer first, second and updated doses during our normal clinic hours, except on Holidays. See the CDC’s COVID-19 vaccine schedule to stay track.

Patient Resources / Questions?

Eligibility to receive direct health services at the Alaska Native Medical Center are outlined below. Those eligible to receive these services are stated in detail in ANMC Policy # 703.

Alaska Native Medical Center can administer direct health services to individuals who meet the following requirements:

  • Alaska Native and American Indian people
  • Children of eligible Alaska Native or American Indian people, including: Non-Native foster children, Adopted children, Stepchildren, and Legal wards or orphans, until they reach the age of 19.


Limited types of services can be administered to certain individuals who meet the following requirements:

Non-Native Woman Pregnant with an Alaska Native or American Indian Man’s Child: ANMC will provide limited services to non-Native women pregnant with an eligible Alaska Native or American Indian man’s child.

Emergency Care: ANMC will provide emergency medical screening and stabilization to all individuals, including those who not otherwise are eligible for services, in accordance with the EMS/EMTALA Policy and related procedures. ANMC may also provide additional care that may be needed until an appropriate referral can be made and/or to complete the course of treatment.
