 Telepresenting

  • A term that refers to the act of presenting or communicating in real time from a remote location, typically through digital or telecommunications technologies. You could be telepresented from your local community clinic to ANMC, or, from an ANMC clinic to a Specialist outside of Alaska.

You will be able to interact with your provider in real time to address questions or concerns about your health care.

Your video visit will be private and confidential.

Depending on your appointment type, you can attend the appointment at home (or anywhere you have access to a speaker, camera, and internet connection) or in your local clinic.

Your appointment at your local clinic may also include the use of AFHCAN carts, which can report your biometrics and other health data, such as photos, in real time.

A Specialist from ANMC may call you on the phone.

This is an interprofessional consultation service where health information is gathered; such as images, lab results, radiology and medical histories, and then transmitted to an ANMC Specialist for evaluation and recommendations. The requesting provider is responsible for following up with the patient and making sure the recommended care plan is completed. Some ANMC clinics using Store and Forward include:

  • Your provider takes photos, labs, radiology studies and records your medical information in a note.
  • Your provider securely sends this information to an ANMC Specialty Clinic.
  • The ANMC Specialty Clinic provider reviews the information, then sends recommendations back to your provider.
  • Your provider will go over the treatment plan with you, which may include ordering medications and giving you tips on how to take care of your medical condition. You will not see the Specialist in person.
