National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, April 23-29, is a time to honor the more than 300,000 medical laboratory professionals across the nation who perform and interpret 10 billion laboratory tests every year that save lives and keep people healthy.

The ANMC lab team consists of pathologists, medical technologists, medical laboratory technicians, histologic technicians and laboratory assistant/phlebotomists. They use state-of-the-art technology to detect unknown health problems and aid in the diagnosis and treatment of existing conditions by giving accurate, timely test results.

Laboratory test results comprise an estimated 70 percent of a patient’s medical records and are crucial to the diagnosis and treatment of illness and disease. Results of laboratory tests often identify the presence of disease in its earliest stages, when the possibilities of a cure are greatest and when treatment is least costly.

Within the laboratory, these highly-educated and experienced medical professionals work in the areas of chemistry, serology, hematology, cytology, microbiology, immunology, coagulation, urinalysis, histology, pathology, molecular biology and transfusion medicine.

Thank you to the hard-working laboratory professionals at the ANMC laboratories, who provide quality patient care to our people every day.
