Quitting smoking isn’t easy, and takes time and planning. The Great American Smokeout is a great day to take that first step towards a tobacco-free lifestyle! The ANTHC Tobacco Prevention Program has resources to help you plan a quit attempt or support you through those first days towards your tobacco-free life. The ANTHC Tobacco Prevention Program will host a table on the Great American Smokeout, Thursday, Nov. 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Healthy Communities Building lobby, located at 3900 Ambassador Drive. Stop by to engage in some fun educational activities, and learn more about how the ANTHC Tobacco Prevention Program can help and support you as you take those first steps towards a tobacco-free lifestyle. You can also earn a chance to win one of four $25 VISA gift cards by stopping by and sharing your reasons and motivation for quitting tobacco use (you do not have to be present to win). You can also call our tobacco information line at (907) 729-4343 for more information and resources. ANTHC offers free pharmacotherapy (nicotine gum, lozenge, and patches and medications Chantix and Zyban upon provider approval), one-on-one consultation with a tobacco treatment specialist, assistance with a quit plan and follow-up support. All ANTHC employees committed to being enrolled in the tobacco cessation program will also be granted a one-time opportunity of two hours of paid time off to pursue nicotine dependence treatment.
