Skilled Nursing Facility construction update – Friday, Aug. 1
As the summer weather transitions from sunny to rainy and back to sunny again, construction crews working on the Skilled Nursing Facility are transitioning between framing the first floor, erecting steel on the second-floor deck, and finishing the shallow underground. Upcoming project milestones include completing the backfilling of the strip and spot footings, as well as pouring concrete in both interior and exterior walls. 2025-2026 ANTHC $5,000 Scholarship Award Recipients
We are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025-2026 ANTHC $5,000 Board Scholarship. The ANTHC $5,000 Scholarship was established by the Board of Directors to help support Alaska Native and American Indian students pursuing higher education in health care related fields. Construction of the 80-bed, 92,000-square-foot Skilled Nursing Facility is expected to be completed in 2027. Construction update With the foundation complete, crews are now working on the building envelope and erecting steel. Despite the challenges of limited staffing and the COVID-19 pandemic, the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) Colorectal Cancer Control Program – a five-year (2020-2025) grant funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – has achieved significant progress in increasing colorectal cancer screening rates across Alaska. Construction of the 80-bed, 92,000-square-foot Skilled Nursing Facility is underway and is expected to be completed by summer 2026. Project Achievements & Upcoming Milestones: While construction on the facility began in August 2024, the foundation was recently completed in March of this year. The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium has partnered with two organizations to provide compassionate bereavement services at the Alaska Native Medical Center hospital. ANTHC is working with Rachel’s Gift and Sweet Grace Ministries to help provide comprehensive and compassionate bereavement care and comfort items for families experiencing perinatal loss. Both organizations provide resources to assist hospital staff caring for families experiencing the loss of an infant due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death.
