ANTHC announces call for artists for new Skilled Nursing Facility
The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium is excited to invite Alaska Native and American Indian artists to submit artwork proposals for a new facility that will play a vital role in the Alaska Tribal Health System. The ANTHC Short-Term Skilled Nursing Facility, located on Ambassador Drive in Anchorage, will help people continue healing after a hospital stay, providing nursing care, rehabilitation, and physical recovery support before they safely return home. This addresses a significant gap in the system of care.
Emergency Services Expansion Update – June 18, 2026
Basement, Level 1, and Level 3 mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations continue, as does work on the drywall finishes of the basement walls. Also in progress is electrical and plumbing in-wall on Level 1; layout for Core and Shell for Levels 1-6; and interior wall layouts throughout the structure. Demolition and installation work will continue on the west side of the hospital through 2027 for fueling and liquid oxygen infrastructure. Elevator 17/18 shaft wall drywall has started and stairwell shaft walls and handrails are almost complete on all levels. Exterior curtain wall work has also begun.
Emergency Services Expansion Update – June 4, 2026
Basement, Level 1, and Level 3 mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations continue, as does work on the drywall finishes of the basement walls. Also in progress is electrical and plumbing in-wall on Level 1; layout for Core and Shell for Levels 1-5; and interior wall layouts throughout the structure. Concrete slab work has now been completed for Levels 1-7, and the basement-Level 5 have been fireproofed. Upcoming construction this month includes putting up the exterior curtain wall, and elevator shaft 9 will be upgraded into a 2-hour rated MEP shaft assembly. Scheduled completion is by mid-June. Basement, Level 1, and Level 3 mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations continue, as is interior wall framing on Level 1. We have moved on to drywall top out in the Level 1 interior walls, and fireproofing on Level 4. Concrete slab work has now been completed on Levels 1-6, and the structural steel supports have been placed for elevator shaft 15/16. Hanger installation for ceiling infrastructure is ongoing on Levels 1 and 3. Brick demolition is ongoing at the east side of level 3 on the existing hospital. Work continues through the month of March! Here’s what our team is working on: Note: “Phase” refers to the area or section being worked on. Each phase includes the first floor, second floor, and roof. See Phase map below. Upcoming Milestones: This is a new build construction project on the corner of Ambassador Drive and Elmore Road. There should not be direct impacts to departments, although visitors to campus will most likely notice the construction activity. Noise levels will rise in the immediate vicinity due to heavy equipment operation.
Emergency Services Expansion Update – March 23, 2026
Work that is ongoing includes basement drywall, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations; hanger installation on Level 1 for ceiling infrastructure; fireproofing on Levels 2 and 3; and brick demolition on the north side of Level 4 on the existing hospital. Concrete slab work is complete on Levels 1-4. Air Handler Units are being craned into the building at level 3. On the horizon, concrete placement for Level 5 and exterior framing on Level 1 will begin in April; the exterior curtain wall work will commence in late May; and work on the north end of the parking lot will commence in June. Skilled Nursing Facility Update – March 10, 2026
Despite the snow and cold, our construction team has been making great progress this month. They’ve completed completed roof sections over phases 2 and 3, roughed in the ductwork on the first floor of phase 4, and backfilled and poured slab in the final phase. ANTHC Epidemiology hosts inaugural Tribal Public Health Summit
From February 18-19, 2026, ANTHC’s Epidemiology Center hosted the first Alaska Tribal Public Health Summit. The goal: Bring together Tribal leaders and staff from across the state to work on creative, collaborative solutions for a changing public health landscape. ANTHC’s strategic plan for addressing the health needs of our people involves strengthening Tribal partnerships, which means investing purposefully in the improvement of public health across all Alaska Native communities.
