Ongoing demolition and construction activities for the ESE Expansion project will continue to create noise and vibrations at the ANMC hospital. ANTHC Behavioral Health Wellness Clinic offers new group for parenting and caregiving skills beginning Oct. 8
The ANTHC Behavioral Health Wellness Clinic is offering a new group to improve parenting and caregiving skills. Ayuq is a group where individuals can learn skills to better take care of the children in their lives (current custody is not required). Ayuq is a 12-week workshop starting Tuesday, Oct. 8, and will be offered every Tuesday from noon-1 p.m. This group blends traditional Alaska Native knowledge and Western psychotherapy to help group members from a culturally informed lens. Aniqsaaq – new research study for Alaska Native people who want to quit cigarettes
Aniqsaaq is an Inupiaq word that means “to breathe.” The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium and Mayo Clinic are partnering on the Aniqsaaq research study for Alaska Native adults who want to breathe freely without cigarettes. The objective of the study is to evaluate a family-based financial incentives intervention. The study is open to Alaska Native adults who want to quit smoking cigarettes. Construction Update: This week, construction crews started demolition of the exterior brick on the east side of the ANMC hospital in the north corner. This work is anticipated to take two weeks – crews will be working north to south. This work will create noise and vibrations as the brick is removed from the exterior of the building. Campus construction update: Emergency Services Expansion – Aug. 30, 2024
This year, the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium launched a multi-year, 7 million project to improve and expand emergency services at the Alaska Native Medical Center. Construction on Phase 1A of this project is nearing completion and we are excited to provide patient care in this new space! Construction Update: Construction is nearly complete on the Alaska Native Medical Center’s Temporary Emergency Services Department (ESD)! Road Closure Update: Ambassador Drive partial closure; Tudor Centre Drive reopens
Ambassador Drive at Elmore Road will be closed starting Tuesday, Aug. 27 and will reopen Sunday, Sept. 8. Tudor Centre Drive will reopen with one lane on each side the morning of Friday, Aug. 23 and will fully reopen the morning of Monday, Aug. 26. ANTHC is working on site preparation for future construction activities for a short-term Skilled Nursing Facility on the corner of Elmore Road and Ambassador Drive. 2024-2025 ANTHC Board Scholarship award recipients
We are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2024-2025 ANTHC $5,000 Board Scholarship. The ANTHC $5,000 Scholarship was established by the Board of Directors to help support Alaska Native and American Indian students pursuing higher education in health care related fields. Alaska Native Medical Center and other Alaska hospitals and clinics currently seeing a rise in cases of pertussis (whooping cough)
Pertussis, also known as whooping cough, is a very contagious respiratory illness caused by the bacteria Bordetella pertussis. Toxins caused by the bacteria can cause airway inflammation. With kids across Alaska starting school next week, this is a good time to ask your primary care provider about vaccination if you or your children are not already vaccinated. The best way to prevent pertussis is to get vaccinated. How does pertussis spread?The bacteria that cause whooping cough spread easily from person to person through
