Our Professional and Leadership Development Programs will not only help you in your career but in all areas of your life. ANTHC Programs:
ANTHC Professional Development
Succeeding in your career isn’t solely about changing your job title, it’s also about growing as an individual.
Our Professional Development courses are for ANTHC staff and our Tribal health partners. They can expose even the most seasoned professionals to new concepts, and help to solidify and expand their expertise in their field. Learn about everyday skills in classes like “Rooted in Culture” or hone your people skills in “Introduction to Emotional Intelligence.”
Training Calendar
Training is now available both in-person and via Zoom. Visit our training calendar for course dates, times and Zoom information. Note: Classes are offered on rotation so that if you miss one, you will be able to take it at a later date.
Continuing Medical Education (CMEs) and Continuing Education (CEs) Credits
Some of the Professional Development courses may qualify for CE or CME credits. Doctors are eligible to receive CMEs and nurses and pharmacists may earn CEs. Many licensing and professional associations also recognize a leadership book club as meeting the professional development credit requirements.
To receive credits, attend and participate in the Professional Development Training, and complete a course evaluation.
ANTHC Employee Book Club
The ANTHC book club is open to ALL ANTHC and THO employees. Anyone can participate and it is not a requirement that you have read or finished the book, unless you are seeking CE or CME credits or are in one of the other leadership programs. Held monthly, September to May, from 1-2 p.m., book club discussions coincide with ANTHCs leadership development programs, LEAD and Pathways, programs year. ANTHC does not supply the books, we try to choose some books that are available online for free through Libby and Hoopla for Anchorage Library members. The book club is a great way to network and gain a deeper and better understanding of leadership skills, diverse perspectives, and Alaska Native and Native American cultures.
ANTHC Leadership Development

ANTHC’s Leadership Development programs are designed to increase the number of Alaska Native and American Indian people in managerial and professional positions and to support you once you enter these roles.
We offer three Leadership Development Programs for every step in your career: Alaska Native Executive Leadership Program (ANELP); Leadership Excellence through Advancement and Determination (LEAD); and Pathways to Leadership.

Alaska Native Executive Leadership Program (ANELP)
Executive sponsorship is required for admission into ANELP.
Leadership Excellence through Advancement and Determination (LEAD)
LEAD is a nine-month training for participants to gain a better understanding of management and leadership skills through discussions with and presentations by internal and external guest speakers.
Pathways to Leadership
Pathways to Leadership is a nine-month program for candidates seeking to improve their leadership and management knowledge and skills.
