The Alaska Native Medical Center hospital is among the 4,800 nationwide that participate in the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® initiative to improve outcomes for individuals who experience heart disease or stroke.
Heart disease and stroke are the No. 2 and No. 6 causes of death in Alaska, respectively. These health crises require swift and proven treatment to ensure the best outcomes for patients. The American Heart Association, a global force changing the future of health for all, sets the standards for high-quality, science-based care and access that all patients deserve.
ANMC is recognized with the Get with the Guidelines Gold Plus achievement, recognized for two or more consecutive calendar years of 85% or higher adherence on all achievement measures applicable and 75% or higher adherence with additional select quality measures in stroke.
“Every 40 seconds, someone in America has a stroke or heart attack,” said Michele Bolles, American Heart Association senior vice president of quality, outcomes research and analytics. “High-quality care should be accessible to all, and sites awarded through the Get With The Guidelines program help work toward our shared vision of health and hope for everyone, everywhere.”
Each year, the American Heart Association recognizes hospitals across the country for consistently following up-to-date, research-based guidelines to ensure all patients have access to lifesaving care. In Alaska, seven hospitals were recognized with awards this year in categories ranging from stroke to coronary artery disease. Here is the list of Alaska hospitals receiving recognition in one or more categories:

- Alaska Regional Hospital, Anchorage
- Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation, Dillingham
- Central Peninsula Hospital, Soldotna
- Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, Fairbanks
- Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, Palmer
- Providence Alaska Medical Center, Anchorage
