Tribally-Sponsored Health Insurance Program participants will continue to receive coverage through Moda Health

ANTHC has been closely following the recent decision of the Alaska Division of Insurance to limit Moda Health insurance business in Alaska and its impact on our participants in the Tribally-Sponsored Health Insurance Program (T-SHIP) with coverage through Moda.

According to information provided by the Division of Insurance, individuals who already have insurance through Moda for 2016 can continue to rely on that policy until it expires at the end of 2016. T-SHIP will continue to pay premiums for Moda policies, participants will continue to receive health care through that policy and Moda is still responsible for paying claims.

The Division of Insurance has posted a Frequently Asked Question document with additional information at https://www.commerce.alaska.gov/web/Portals/7/pub/moda-faq.pdf.

We are carefully evaluating options for T-SHIP participants for 2017 and future coverage. ANTHC staff is working with our Tribal partners to inform those enrolled and will provide updates as they are available.
