Alaskan Plants as Food and Medicine Symposium coming September 11-13August 19, 2016
The fifth annual Alaskan Plants as Food and Medicine Symposium will be held Sept. 11-13 in Anchorage at the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Hosted by ANTHC’s Health Promotion program, the symposium promotes traditional Alaska plant knowledge and ethical harvesting.
This year’s event will feature plant identification walks, public policy information and hands-on learning. Participants from all areas of the state and professions are encouraged to attend, including traditional healers, medical providers, public health educators and researchers, instructors, culture/language bearers, Elders and youth, Tribal leaders, traditional hunter/gatherers, policymakers, and lands management officials.
