·        Engineering projects, most of them designed in house, are diversified and complex

·        Highly experienced senior engineers train and mentor early- and mid-career employees

·        Projects focus on the planning, design, construction and operations of public health infrastructure throughout the entire state of Alaska

·        Project execution is highly flexible and responsive

·        DEHE employs about 200 people, of which 55 are engineers and 25 are Commissioned Officers

·        DEHE offers career and promotion opportunities (currently, nine O6 billets)

·        AutoCAD-trained technicians readily support engineering activities with the latest technology and methods

·        The project management model at DEHE means that design, construction and project management departments all employ engineers

·        In addition to $60 million per year in sanitation projects, the new clinic construction volume averages $15 million per year, and hospital maintenance and improvement projects average $3 million per year
